Gene’s Cased Caddis was developed in 2008, with the design and materials changing slightly over the next 10 years until its final version today. This pattern really shines in the spring and the fall with changing water flows/temps, forcing them to move and become fish food. Cased Caddis are carnivores that hunt in the morning and evening, which makes them easy prey for hungry trout.
The cased caddis is always attached to an object in the current and can rappel up to 2 inches enabling them to catch smaller nymphs in the current. Gene’s Cased Caddis is well weighted making it ideal for primary rig setups for nymphing or euro style.
