The Fry Candy is a pattern that I came up with in summer of 2018 to mainly target bass in my local rivers and creeks. The main inspiration for this fly was the Everglade’s Special, just a little more dialed in for what I needed locally for bass. What I have done with the Fry Candy is made it completely out of craft fur with just a touch of Ice Dub in the head. This keeps the fly extremely light and fishes in the upper to middle of the water column. It also allows a ton of movement in the water. The tail actually kicks side-to-side with stripping it which just drives the bass crazy. This fly was a guide favorite while I was guiding with my outfitter.
Although this was initially created to target bass, it’s really just a great fly for any predatory fish. It does a wonderful job in saltwater for a multitude of species. The Fry Candy comes in 5 different colors and 2 sizes to help cover whatever species you’re targeting.
