David Cushman

David Cushman is one of the newer members of the Royalty Fly Tyer team with Umpqua Feather Merchants. His latest fly pattern, the “Great Lakes Goby” made its debut in 2013 and is intended to target smallmouth bass in lakes, rivers and streams, but is effective for other species of fish as well. His fly was also featured in "The Orvis Guide to Fly Fishing for Carp Tips and Tricks for the Determined Angler" by Kirk Deeter (Published May 2013). He is continuing to develop other flies for Umpqua Feather Merchants. For David’s "real job", he is a Special Agent with the US Secret Service in the Washington, DC, area. He was formerly a Virginia State Game Warden (now known as Conservation Police) and a Law Enforcement Park Ranger for the National Park Service, Blue Ridge Parkway. His continuing law enforcement career has spanned over 24 years. David resides in Northern Virginia with his wife and two young sons.
