"The Mess Maker is a fly that just flat works. Period.
My goal with this fly was to make a caddis pattern that is highly buoyant with a body that still pierces the surface film.
I believe the submerged body is a key trigger for trout and something that really sets this pattern apart from others.
The flash under the dubbing rib creates a subtle glow and the forward facing wing allows the fly to skate and makes it real hard to sink in complex pocket water.
