The Sugar Momma evolved from a need to have a streamer that was smaller in size and profile but despite its size, could also generate enough movement to close the deal on reactionary eats in as many water types as possible. After many revisions and edits at the vice, the fly exceeded my expectations.
I’ve used it to catch redfish in the salt, trout in rivers and lakes and even bass in warm water. The real magic of this fly is in the chickaboo collar that moves like crazy in a dead drift and even more so when slightly twitched. The hen feathers are the perfect complement with their supple movement and endless color options. My only hope is that it can become a part of your reliable arsenal for creating many fishy memories on the water.
