I started my flyfishing adventures in the early '70s in Northern California, before moving back to my home state of Wyoming. In '75 I sharpened my interest and got started in fly tying with a Hank Roberts Supreme tying kit. This was followed by several different vises, a stint in the U.S. Navy and upon my discharge in '83 a move to my present home of Gunnison, CO. With the guidance of a dear mentor and Jack Dennis's Fly Tying Volume No. 2, my path was set.
I guided for Gunnison River Expeditions from 1986 to 1997 until a rare condition called Multifocal Motor Neuropathy made rowing a boat difficult and this sent me into a tailspin for a few years. I got sober in 2002 and life has been getting better ever since. I do volunteer work for 3 different fundraising events; Risers4Rett gets flies and custom built fly rods from me for their live auctions twice a year, I "guide" for the annual Caddis Cup and help with setting up Gunnison Angling Society's annual Superfly.
