Hexagenia

As one of the largest mayflies in the US, the Hex hatch brings out both anglers and trout across the country. Typically found in the 4 to 8 size range, the yellow bodied Hexagenia presents an excellent opportunity to target trout with a dry fly, as they tend to lose wariness when presented with a large meal. Be sure to stock your boxes with a few nymphs, duns and spinners as the Hexagenia is a mayfly many trout can’t resist.
