“Nobody knows crayfish baits quite like conventional bass anglers, so I stole a page out of their book when I designed this fly.
The oversized tungsten bead makes it dive hard on the pause, very similar to a traditional craw jig.
I articulated the fly and chose natural materials like marabou and rabbit zonker to make it dance.
By combining a jig-style shank, a hook that points upward, and a sturdy weed guard, I was able to create a fly that can be fished where craws live: on the bottom.
Born in the waters of Southwest Montana, this pattern has proven to be successful in bass and trout applications alike.
Give it a shot on any body of water where crayfish live. You won’t be disappointed!"
