On the Fly

We're thrilled to welcome Larry Kingrey — another renowned and celebrated guide and tyer — to our Royalty Tyer/Designer roster. Larry brings decades of angling and tying experience to an already vast and impressive list of Umpqua designers. Among Larry's signature fly patterns are his Cap’n Hook, Kingrey’s Better Foam Caddis, Kingrey’s Bead Head Pupa and Kingrey’s Dry Ice Drake.

“I am very pleased to be a member of the Umpqua team. I look forward to having their exceptional production team tying my patterns, and having Umpqua as the launch point for new ideas. Together, I think we can offer some great new things to our sport.”
—Larry Kingrey

After working on the Green River below Flaming Gorge, the Colorado, Yampa and Elk in northwestern Colorado, Kingrey now guides and ties for Royal Gorge Anglers in Canon City, Colorado — in the Arkansas and South Platte drainages where he learned to fly fish. He has guided anglers and tied flies full time since 1990. His specialty now is instruction, and his goal on the river is for guests to have a better knowledge of the sport at the end of a trip. Larry is also a member of the Whiting Pro Team.

“Larry is more than a welcome addition to our team. Along with being an immensely talented and creative tyer and designer, his comprehensive and impressive angling acumen is an invaluable asset to Umpqua.”
—Jeff Fryhover, President & CEO, Umpqua Feather Merchants

As a member of Umpqua Feather Merchants Signature Tyer Program, Kingrey joins an elite roster of some of the world’s most renowned and respected tyers and designers.

Welcome aboard Larry!
